Savannah cat F1 and F2 are early-generation hybrids created by crossing a domestic cat with an Serval. The “F” stands for “filial generation,” which indicates how many generations the cat is removed from the serval ancestor.
- F1 Savannah: About 50% serval by genetics, with one parent being a serval. These are the largest, most exotic-looking, and typically the most energetic and demanding Savannahs.
- F2 Savannah: One generation further removed, usually around 25–37.5% serval. They still retain many wild traits and appearances but are generally somewhat easier to manage and more domesticated in temperament than F1s.
